Collected book papers and vintage fabrics hand
stitched together to create these decorative dresses.
Sentimental collections and precious memories inspire my choice
of subject matter. The imagery that is portrayed upon these hand
painted pieces of cloth and paper represent notions of family tradition
and nostalgic reminiscences of the past. These delicate christening
gowns act as a visual thread that incorporates the sentimental notion
of family heirlooms being past down the generations. Over the years
these tiny garments are added to or altered in style and show traces
of a past that has long been forgotten. A patchwork of book paper,
lace, stamps and other collected items form the surface of each
piece. |
