BIOGRAPHY
As a Textile Artist I take on a dynamic
approach to mixed media in the form of 2D and 3D. Combining
fragments of vintage fabric, old paper, buttons and yarn
creates an aged, worn appearance to my creations. Pastel
colours and decorative embroidery add a feminine touch to
these delicate collectables that include paper shoes, conceptual
gowns, paintings and fabric hangings. Through the manipulation
of stitch, wax and painterly techniques these delicate items
encapsulate a sentimental portrayal of the past and faded
memories.

The origins of my creations can be traced back to reading
Charles Dickens' Great Expectations and the diminishing decadence
of Miss Havisham's belongings and wedding dress. An element
of charm lies in the unknown behind these precious safe keeps,
which is then depicted within my techniques of making and
drawing. Visiting museums, art galleries, antique and charity
shops dramatically influences my choice in subject matter
and approach to traditional techniques of working. |
